POSTHUMAN SOCIAL CLUB celebrates Art’s Birthday 2026!
Art will be 1,000,063 years old on Saturday, January 17—and “Ö1 Kunst zum Hören / Kunstradio” is celebrating this together with andother stage.
French Fluxus artist and Art's Birthday discoverer Robert Filliou knew that art was born on this very day in the year 998,037 BC. The Viennese the artists collective andother stage – which will be coming from the future for this occasion – knows even more: In the year 2,233, all capitalists will be extinct – yes, like the dinosaurs –, planet earth will have long since become sustainable, and James Tiberius Kirk will be just a cute baby!
From the flourishing 23rd century, they bring us the "Posthuman Social Club vol. 6 – Art's Birthday of the Eternal Network" as a gift: a celebration of art with eco-futuristic dance frenzy, experimental solarpunk electronics, performances, tasty events, installation art, and radio broadcasts from a decolonized future.
The celebration will be held live in Studio 3 of the ORF RadioKulturhaus in Vienna. From here, radio art contributions will be broadcast in real time on Ö1 from 10:05 p.m. to midnight and streams will be fed into the network of the Ars Acustica group of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) via artsbirthday.ebu.ch and kunstradio.at.
Musicians and performers bring eco-futuristic dance mania and experimental solarpunk electronica: DJs auto_timer a.k.a Ricardo Eizirik (Brazil/Berlin) and JSX a.k.a Jorge Sánchez-Chiong (Caracas/Vienna) and, when not dancing wildly, on their instruments: Alfredo Ovalles (Venezuela/Vienna), Kasho Chualan (Kurdistan/Canada/Vienna), Samuel Toro Pérez (Colombia/Vienna), and Isabella Forciniti (Calabria/Vienna). Ecologist and artist Sabrina Rosina Brühn and curator Hans-Jürgen Hauptmann provide tasty events, while artist Otto Krauser designs spatial textures and wearable interventions. Turntables appear in Brigitte Wilfing's turntable performance, as well as in Andreas Trobollowitsch's “DJ-Holz” installation, which makes the acoustic dimensions of tree trunks audible. Students from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna provide radio contributions from a decolonized future. Kilian Jörg and Brigitte Wilfing guide the audience through the evening with dancing, playing, and speculation.
“Posthuman Social Club vol. 6 – Art's Birthday of the Eternal Network” is curated by Brigitte Wilfing and Jorge Sánchez-Chiong (JSX) in collaboration with Kilian Jörg and andother stage. An event by Ö1 Kunst zum Hören / Kunstradio. Produced by andother stage with support by Stadt Wien Kultur.
