How do we hear? What do we hear? And what does it mean to think through hearing? The miniature series Thinking with the Ears, initiated by the Ö1 series Kunst zum Hören / Kunstradio, , is dedicated to listening as a method of cognition - an approach to the world that is sensual, physical and spatial. Based on everyday experiences - the sound of a bicycle riding alongside parked cars, the acoustic behavior of bridges or the perception of sound shadows and reflections - - the twelve miniatures so far set out the central foundations of auditory thinking. In the next phase, the series opens up to more specific questions: How does our behavior change through unconsciously perceived sounds? What does the acoustic quality of a room tell us about its social dynamics? And what does the concept of audibility actually mean? Thinking with the Ears is an ongoing project at the interface of artistic research, sound art and acoustic ecology - an attempt to rethink our relationship to the world through precise, curious listening.
