| GALERIE GRITA INSAM 1971-2011
Founded in 1971 (originally as Modern Art Gallery), the Galerie Grita Insam has promoted young local artists and collaborated with international artists since the beginning - including:
VITO ACCONCI, ROBERT ADRIAN, ART&LANGUAGE, ALICE AYCOCK, JOHN BALDESSARI, JOSÉ MANUEL BALLESTER, SABINA BITTER/HELMUT WEBER, BARBARA BLOOM, RICHARD DEACON, SIMON DENNY, SILVIE&CHÉRIF DEFRAOUI, YONA FRIEDMAN, FERNANDA GOMES, ZAHA HADID, JENNY HOLZER, CANDIDA HÖFER, IRWIN, ALFREDO JAAR, CHRISTOF KINTERA, JÜRGEN KLAUKE, JULIUS KOLLER, KEN LUM, RITA MC BRIDE, MAURIZIO NANNUCCI, HELIO OITICIA, MIGUEL ANGEL RIOS, GREGOR SCHNEIDER, FRANK THIEL, MARTIN WALDE, MARIJKE VAN WARMERDAM, PETER WEIBEL.
The concept of the gallery focused on communication and networking media - therefore the organisation of discussions, workshops, lectures, personal exhibitions, group shows and projects dealing with crioss-boarder art (art in public space, art consulting and the multiple forms of conceptual art) were always an integral element of the gallery's work.
The gallery closed, after 40 adventurous years, in 2011 due to the illness of its founder Grita Insam.
Thematic group exhibitions and projects by Galerie Grite Insam since 1995 include:
