Hélène Phlogiston
Hélène Phlogiston is a pseudonym of the Montreal-based sound artist Justin Smith. A veteran radio performer, he has been featured on the programs 'Transfigured Night' on WKCR in New York, and 'Art Damage' on WAIF in Cincinnati. He has also performed live and in drag throughout the Midwest, in Germany, and in Turkey. He describes his live performance as 'like a somewhat more feminine Ute Lemper, with laptop and flanger.'
He has one self-produced CD, 'Ball of Fire', and is also featured on an Art Damage compilation. He may be reached at h.phlogiston@berlin.de.
