Each year, artists and free radio stations all over the world celebrate Art’s Birthday on 17th January. The inventor of this event is the French fluxus artist Robert Filliou. How Art came into existence and what happened next – all of this is explained in Filliou’s charming “Whispered Art History”:
Art’s Birthday as well as its interconnected parties stem from Robert Filliou’s concept of the „Eternal Network“, fed by communication, processes and community. The idea of the „Eternal Network“ was, after Filliou’s death in 1987, taken up by artists and continued through associated networks. Network, in this respect, means: organisers are in touch well beforehand, performances are cross-national and programmes are exchanged, via internet streams or satellite. It is this footage, that the two young artists Ingo Leindecker and Doris Prlic use for their live performance “Out of Demand“:
